Pet Portraits
Dogs have been companion to man in various capacities long before recorded history. Different cultures highly honored and valued their canines as we can see by ancient depictions through painting, mosaics and sculpture.
I wish to contribute to continuing that innate human characteristic of honoring dogs and other animals, by recording my visions, and yours, through my paintings of how they are revered in our contemporary world.
Welcome to my Theater of Companions and hope you enjoy your visit!

Painting pet portraits is a great source of joy and amusement for me. The character, eyes and features of my own dog, a Dalmatian, inspired me greatly to paint not only him but animals of many breeds. The fascination of painting comes from looking at a blank canvas and being witness to the evolution of turning a flat white surface into juxtapositions of color, tone and line that resemble an eye, long bunny ears, or a king's crown. I am just getting started on this pet portraits adventure, love working on animal paintings and have begun a bunny series... bunnies in the night. It is the eyes that get me, the eyes that create the expression and set the mood for the portrait.
